The works related to the construction of the gas pipeline will be commenced after the Voivode has issued the construction permit and will be carried out by the company selected in the public tender, while following the project documentation prepared.
The high-pressure gas pipeline with a diameter of 700 mm will be laid in a trench at a depth of about 2 m, while allowing it to be backfilled with about 1.2 m layer of soil counting from the upper surface of the pipe to the ground level. Some terrain-related obstacles preventing collision-free laying of the gas pipeline (including rivers, roads, railways) will be overcome by using trenchless methods the so-called horizontal directional drilling or boring). In the case of smaller (narrower) watercourses or local access roads, any exceedances may be made by means of open excavation technology, while providing temporary access to the property.
The width of the lane – under which the construction works will be carried out, i.e., the gas pipeline construction assembly lane – will be of 28 meters, and within forest areas, this width will be restricted to 18 meters. Prior to the commencement of the construction works, the top (organic) layer of the land will be safeguarded in the so-called assembly belt. The removed layer of soil will be put aside in a separate place, and then used for reclamation after the works have been completed.
The Contractor of the construction works will be held required to restore each and every property to their original condition, i.e., as it had been prior to entering into the area. Damaged and affected lands as a result of the construction in the course of the conduct of construction works will be brought back to its original condition after completion of the works. Possible damage to the land development elements – that cannot be restored to the condition prior to the start of the construction – will be properly compensated as part of the indemnity attributable to the owners. It shall be emphasised that each and every case of rearranging the area after the construction will be agreed upon with the owner while maintaining complete&utter diligence.
Completion of the project will result in the following:
- development of the transmission system within new areas and improvement of technical parameters of the network throughout the country;
- increase in the attractiveness of the north-eastern regions of Poland for new investments;
- promotion of the exploit of natural gas as a low-emission fuel for the achievement of the UE environmental and climate goals.
An important asset for the local communities will be the property tax paid every year by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. to local budgets at the rate of 2% of the value of the gas pipeline section located in the territory of each commune. The taxes will benefit the communes’ budgets on a regular basis, and can be earmarked to address the needs of local communities.
